Help the Rockingham County Shelter
A Few of Our Current Goals are to:
- assist in facilitating the shelter animals' adoptions by arranging and staffing off-site adoption centers with volunteers.
- raise funds to purchase equipment and materials that will upgrade
shelter operations and expand outreach programs such as humane
education and animal rescue;
- help with the adoption counseling process;
- take an active part in the Foster Program to give animals a better chance to be adopted;
- train animals;
- collect in-kind donations to help shelter animals-including food, toys, carriers, leashes, etc;
- help lost animals get home to their owners;
- work with the spay/neuter program to help solve the pet overpopulation problem in Orange County;
- actively pursue and develop a comprehensive tri-county spay/neuter
program that can markedly decrease (if not eliminate) all euthanasia in
all our counties' shelters.
Ways You Can Help Our Animals

We need volunteers who are willing to spend a few hours a month
to help improve the lives of Orange County's homeless pet
population. We have several programs that facilitate contact
between potential adopting families and the shelter's animals.
We also need volunteers for a few weekend hours each month to
accompany our precious shelter dogs or puppies to and from retail
centers to increase their visibility so more animals can find
lifetime homes. We also need members to assist with fundraising.
Our aim is to improve the quality of life for Orange County's
homeless animals.
